Rupert Brooke, like Wilfred Owen was an influential war poet who fought, wrote and died in WWI. The Soldier is his most well known poem, the words often used in Remembrance Day Services.

Rupert Brooke was born in Rugby, which is the same town as me, and the statue in the theme pic is in a backwater of Rugby town centre.
As a result, Rupert Brooke's poetry was on the syllabus of every school in the town, for which I'm grateful.
This poem has always struck a chord with with me and inspired by Marz' excellent Wilfred Owen post I wanted to share this with you all.
