Oxfam Bring An End To Bad Gifts
Oxfam Bring An End To Bad Gifts [video]
Oxfam Unwrapped works like this - instead of buying unneeded gifts, instead buy something practical to be used in a third world country. Then you tell the person you would have bought the crappy gift for that you've done something good in their name.

And if you're still stuck on the notion of a crappy gift, you can buy a bag of manure. picked by pocksucket 10 months ago

These adverts are silly, but they bring important issues. Stupid, pointless gifts are a product of capitalism. Imagine if all the resources spent on crap was given to people in the world who need help.

More specifically, it is to provide useful equipment to those in need - to help them work their way out of poverty. Not just hand outs of food or money.
