Not to be a pedant (OK, yes, I am being a pedant) but is it not Superman's physiology combined with the energy he gets from Earth's yellow sun that makes him bulletproof, not his suit?

I could have opened a whole con o' worms here as I am not in anyway into the Superman mythos and his suit could have special powers I'm unaware of too.

And it doesn't detract from the coolness of the fabric.

I'm just saying.
