as I a women I am tempted to go and watch myself... but I am also scared of flocks of drunken men with whipping sticks.... I no like the bruises

I saw a segment on an indigenous tribe in africa, when it's time for a boy to become a man, he whips all his female family members and then jumps over cows.(This was on the show Taboo on National Geographic Channel)

You know, it's their culture. A big portion of the women actually defend it, and find it relevant to their life. And in our country we do things other cultures don't, or find barbaric.

Where does one draw the line? What if the women didn't want it to happen? Who would stick up for them? What if the men were molesting the women?

You can't be totally culturally relativistic on everything.

Is this the only day women get beat in the Czech Republic?

On Wednesday I'm going to Prague for the holiday. I'm so glad it's Christmas and not Easter :)

No, did you read the article? Domestic abuse is a big problem in Cvech.

I understand the purpose of tradition and culture, but when it gets taken out of hand like the article states then you NEED to draw the line. Pretgty soon instead of willow branches or cables, they're going to use barber belts, wood, or anything else a drunken man can find.

Its going to get to the point that one day a man will accidentally kill a child, teenager, wife, older women, etc. by beating her too much.

Another thing I need to point out is how they say beating these women keeps them beautiful and fertile. I know for darn sure that beating a woman can actually make her infertile if done hard enough or often and bruises on a person's body are really not that attractive.

This is just my opinion though.

Not only that, the women do not have a choice, as the article clearly states.
