Woman's Son's Insurance Premium tops $100,000
Barbara Wellensiek knew her son's insurance bill would be steep because of his driving record, but when the renewal notice arrived she was shocked to see the annual premium was $104,566.63. picked by muppet 2 years ago

Well I hope he learned his lesson and slows down. He's 19 and already 3 accidents and 10 speeding tickets and a suspension?

But it does seem a bit steep.

while the insurance premium IS steep, there's really no good reason i can see for him still having a car. i think his mom should have taken the keys away after the 3rd ticket(three strikes you're out). they sound like a bunch of idiots. he doesn't need a car to go play football. with the money they are shelling out for insurance, they could BUY him a condo next to campus or something so he can WALK. seriously, he could have killed someone. he CAN kill someone.

shame, shame.

It's what's known in the trade as a F&*k Off Quote. Very few companies will outright say that they don't want your business. You may well bring them different business at a later date. In that circumstance they will give you a costing you would be unable to pay but instead make you say "F&*k off! I'm not paying that."

While I know that insurance premiums are kind of high in Alberta, that's incredible.

As a pedestrian and another driver on the road, I'd feel alot safer if he wasn't driving anywhere me or anyone.

This is just incredible. I think there should be laws against this. An insurance shouldn't cost more per year then the car someone drives. If he really is a bad driver, then the law should step in and take his drivers license. This is just moneygrabbing.

Seems to me that since the insurance company never expected anyone to actually pay such a premium it was not a money grabbing plan.

The method they used effectively removed this idiot from the road and it didn't cost the taxpayers one cent.

I think the problem will be that it is unlikely that he will stop driving, he'll merely do so without insurance. Then when he kills someone, there won't be anyone there to help cover those expenses.
Maybe he should start riding that bike. Safer for everyone else on the road...
