I knew someone many years ago who discovered she had breast cancer while pregnant with her 3rd child. She, too, skipped treatment, delivered a healthy baby, and died soon after.

It's just a shame that these children have lost their mothers.

I did see a news report recently about a pregnant woman with cancer that had cancer treatments during her pregnancy. Both mom and baby are doing well.

I hope never to be put in the position to choose between my wife and my child. I really dont know what I would do. It would likely be the hardest decision Ive ever face.

i do not understand why she felt like she was going to "lose the will to live" if she hadn't saved that baby. she already had 3 other children in existence who are now deprived of their mother. i know it was probably an excruciating decision to make, but i just don't think she can truly be regarded as, "selfless." her 4 children now do not have a mother. i do not have children, but i feel like if i did have children i would think of them first, and that i would rather bear the burden of guilt for the rest of my life than deprive them of their parent for the rest of their's. i also feel sorry for little liam because i think he will probably bear a lot of guilt and pressure for the rest of his life. i know i would if i felt like i had to make my life worth living if my mom gave her's up just so i could live. it seems to me that they all lost this one. the whole situation is tragic, and i really, really wish she would have made it. if she had made it, it would be under the grin category, and i like the grin category a lot.

« muppet : [...]
It was her decision to make. I don't think we can point fingers at her. If she had sought treatment, she may have felt horrible for choosing her life over her child's.

As for her being selfless, you could hardly say she was "greedily" choosing to bring her child into the world rather than save her own life. She did it out of Love of a child. It's the ultimate sacrifice.

not pointing fingers, and i really, really don't think she was greedy at all. i just don't think she was completely "selfless." the reason i say that is because she had other children to think about. children that were already a part of this world. i guess what i was really getting at is that i don't think it would have been greedy to give up her last child to stick around and care for her other children. personally, i think that would have been a little more selfless. sure she would have to bear the guilt for the rest of her life, but her life is not her own anyway. i think the moment you have children, you give your life to them. you are there to take care of them and to see them live their lives, and make sure you raise them the best you can. you have obligations to them. and since her last child was not born yet, i think her obligations to her already born children should have been held in a higher regard.
