This ordinary looking chicken has become a bit of a star in a Mexican village since she suddenly started laying green eggs.
Until the 5 December, Rabanita used to lay light brown eggs, but her owner was shocked when one morning she discovered they had changed colour.

I've had chickens that would lay green eggs. They were their own special breed and they can be bought from pretty much any hatchery. I don't know what would make a chicken switch from brown to green though...

My brother's chickens laid green, blue and brown (as well as the standard white) eggs. They had so many chickens and there seemed no rhyme or reason to who laid what and in which color.

At first I thought wow, what are the odds of a celebrity chicken starting to lay green eggs, then it hit me, the chicken became a celebrity because she started to lay green eggs.
