I was just too slow on the submit. I was only pointing out how it appeared (to me) that you were dismissing his point because of who it was making the point or because of how he delivered his point.
I don't think Montel would disagree with your points. I think his message was why do we spend so much time on the death of a single celebrity (in this case days) and for the most part only report a line or two about the deaths of our service men and women. He never implied that Fox didn't report on the war or about casualties. He was just making a point about how our own societal priorities are so badly misplaced. And I didn't get the impression that he was attacking the 3 other hosts personally, but used their show to basically call out Americans and Fox News. And I think he was very sincere about his message. I wish he had been better prepared too. He should have anticipated that they might try to turn the table on him and prepared himself. He didn't do a good job of that, but that shouldn't take away from the message.
I just disagree with your reference that he's full of horsecrap (on this issue). A few points;
I could have actually given names of soldiers had I been on the Fox sofa... god willing, I hope and pray to never know any more then I do now.
Messages, no matter how right and just, should be delivered with sincerity.
The person Montel is lecturing, Greg Kelly is a Marine.
Fox, in my opinion, gives a huge amount of coverage , if not the most amount, to our soldiers.
Montel's lecture would have been better, once again in my opinion, delivered to a network that refuses to acknowledge our soldiers and give their support, like, NBC, MSNBC,and CNBC

I have been a pretty cynical person my whole life and have been trying to give people the benefit of the doubt more recently.

The TV is such a good device to though, because of the broad audience, which doesn't have the time or the inclination to look up something on a subject they would otherwise be uneducated about. If I ever see Montel in person he is getting a ^5. I never watched his show and really don't know anything about him but that was pretty cool and DEP is right how he stayed with his point and at the same time was respectful of Heath Ledger and his family.
Regardless of the level of horsecrap he was still putting light on the war and the issue of how the media is almost totally ignoring it. Global Securities is a great site BTW.
