Wesley Snipes Acquitted Of Tax Fraud
Wesley Snipes Acquitted Of Tax Fraud
A jury decided that although Snipes is guilty of not paying taxes, he did so because he truly felt that he didn't have to pay. They felt that he didn't do to defraud the government but because he believed his tax advisers when they told him he didn't have to pay. picked by 2manyusernames 8 months ago

and please, no crazy, incorrect comments about how you don't really have to pay taxes to the IRS. Every argument that has been made many many times is false. You do have to pay. Period.

I'm assuming that you have personally checked the validity of each argument?

I haven't personally checked the validity of arguments that selling heroin is against the law, but I can assure you it is.

I haven't personally checked the validity that Japan is an island in the pacific ocean, but I assume it is.

I am not an attorney or a judge. I can not personally determine the validity of the law. Others have and lost.

Americans do have to pay federal income taxes. People who have refused to do so and who has been caught have learned that.

Don't believe me? Don't pay your taxes, tell the government that you don't feel like paying. We'll just see what happens. Better yet, don't tell the government, allow me to do so I can collect a reward.

Mr. Snipes seems like a very smart man, smarter than we had imagined. You earn all that money and pay taxes earlier but then "change your mind" when being "advised" by a couple of swindlers. That is almost like using the temporary insanity plea. I never liked that one myself.

Well, the IRS is hardly looking out for the people's best interest. If you DO look at the law, you will see inaccuracies. It appears that the IRS is enforcing ITS OWN CODE and not anything from the central government. Many trials have been fought over this and there have been many people who successfully won cases because of the plain and simple fact that the law as it exists right now is not clear. The interpretation as I see it is, taxes are for personal profit, not a trade of goods. My labor is a good which I trade for money. Its an equal exchange whereas a business makes a profit with he exchange of its goods. Thus a business is taxable while income is not. Or something like that. I don't really know.

That being said, I will pay my taxes because I am scared as hell of raising the wrath of the IRS.
