I am going to start this off by saying that this is in no way a stereotype or dig, just an observation.

Okay, disclaimer out of the way:

I worked in one of the leading casinos in Atlantic City. I was a cigarette girl and I had to walk the casino floor with a tray of cigarettes for sale (or comp) so the people gambling didn't have to get up from their table to fetch a badly needed nic-fix.

There was a specific pit that was for Pai-gow Poker and mini-baccarat. Both of these games are VERY big among the Asian patrons. So much so that the whole pit, which was raised off the main floor, was decorated in an Oriental theme and the noodle bar was located inside of the pit. During slow times, I would hang out near the pit stand and talk to the pit boss or the pit clerk and people watch. I have to say, there wasn't ONE day that went buy that I didn't see an Asian man or woman pick their nose and wipe it on the table. ON THE TABLE! (*shudders*)or "hock a loogie" and spit it on the floor. ON THE FLOOR!! It was the most disgusting behavior I had ever seen displayed by a human being in a public place.
Keep in mind, these were people visiting the U.S. so I am guessing that their culture is okay with this type of display but to be brought up here where it is not seen all the time made it very hard to watch. Plus the idea that all that bodily fluid was just spread all over the place made it even worse.

Alright, now that that is over....boy that theme pic really got me gabbin'.

NPR did a thingy on the Chinese culture of loogies, and while I can't find the actual report, I found something that at least addresses it here:
