This was interesting. Living in a state where the governor is really pushing corn as fuel, the algae source seems much more economical; of course, we couldn't create the pond scum because of the cold.

• 1 acre of algae [pond] produces 20,000 gallons of fuel per year

• 1/10 size of New Mexico = All of the United States fuel needs.

I sure hope that were not going to have giant bio-corporations doing what big oil has been doing... teach them kids good teecher.

Good to see algae biodiesel coming along. This is far superior to the "raceway pond" system that's been proposed. I hope this can be commercialized soon.
