First of all the lies they told were so outlandish, that if the students believed it they deserve what they get.

Of course the recruiters lied. Recruieters have lied since some caveman tried to convince his brother-in-law, Og that the size of the mastadons was greatly exagerated.

Recruiters are salespeople. Everyone that sells will mislead, stretch the truth, fib, and some will tell outright lies.

This is true of all sales deals. It is true when you are trying to buy something, it is true when you are applying for a job and you pad your resume, it is true when you are trying to get laid, it is true when... well you get the idea.

People will mislead when trying to sell anything.

If the students really believed such lies as "the war in Iraq is over" than I have some land down here in Florida I would love to sell them
