Regarding this situation, it is crap like this that makes my home owner's ins so damn high. I know this isn't the US but this is exactly the kind of crap that happens here. It infuriates me. I would love to know when everyone stopped taking responsibility for their own actions and/or stupidity.

So far as I know there's no such law in the UK. And even if there was the postal service is undergoing deregulation, so if it did exist, it will be removed as part of that.

I had a little bit of a hunt around, but couldn't find any mention of legislation, and given how widespread the practice is I think it would be hard to bring about an action, precedents and all that.]]>207923

Here is a link to a pdf document (it may not work) it is a copy of a letter sent by a Postmaster to someone who distributed flyers. It gives the code and penalty. The penalty is $300 per offense, plus postage. That means $300 and postage per flyer (not per day or instance of occurance). Distribute 100 flyers and that's $30,000, plus $.41 postage each. Distribute 500 flyers and that's $150,000 plus postage each.

No one really bothers because we like our Chinese food. But it is most certainly illegal.]]>207684
