In a charging affidavit, Dean reportedly said her kids needed to stop arguing and start cleaning and she possessed no control over them.
Her kids are all teenagers; of course she has no control over them. They're hormonal, frontal-lobe not yet engaged boys. However, she has control over the TV, computer, time spent outside the house.

I often consider going on parental strike (like today when the older one is out of school for a snowday) but some how my wife manages to arbitrate.

Nm, works for me now. :)

Ummm...I was left home alone and unsupervised when I was that age. No tragedy, no striking parent involved. Kids that age SHOULD be able to look after themselves for a few hours. The fact that they can't, and that this woman feels she has no control over them is an entirely unrelated issue, yes? I mean, who calls the cops because of a fight over a computer cord?

What Mom DOESN'T want to go on strike!? Two things really stand out in the story for me. One is the fact that there is a lot missing. It mentions that the authorities have been to their house more than once, but why? The other thing that I noticed was her age. She is 33 and her oldest is 17!? She either started in high school, or this is a blended family. Either way...I am glad I am not her. I have enough trouble with my own. I won't be going on strike any time soon, although I could end up in a rubber room.

The youngest is 13? When I was 11, I was left in charge of my younger brothers all of the time.

I wish there was more information in the article, but I can hardly blame the lady if she had 4 teenage boys.

These kids are TOTALLY old enough to be home on their own.

I'm glad I have cats. I can leave them home alone for hours no problem and a squirt bottle usually remedies the fighting. :)

well, if they had been raised at all they would be more than old enough to be home alone. The real issue here is that the mother went on strike because "she couldn't get help taking care of her boys from the police or courts."

hello, personal responsibility anyone???

I was home alone from the age of 8 on. What do they call that s**t? Latch-key kids?

My parents worked while I was home, didn't see them much. I'm fine.

I mean, just look at how sane I am.
