Celebrity _________ fill in the blank with any crime gets off way way way too easy. I am really surprised there hasn't been a lawsuit about that.

There is the constitutional right to equal justice. Most celebrities that get busted for a crime gets off with barely a slap on the wrist.

Are there any legal scholars that can weigh in on how this happens and why there aren't lawsuits?

its an iffy topic. on the one hand they get off lightly, may effect how badly they end up going and it isnt really fair.

AND YET if they didnt get off lightly it would hurt the industries... imagen if Kelsey Grammer went to jail for cocaine possession during his time in Cheers. they might not of BEEN a Frasier and that would be awful...
