Obama pushes bill to rein in lavish CEO pay
Barack Obama will push for passage of a bill to put the huge pay packages of some U.S. corporate executives under greater scrutiny.

He has introduced "say-on-pay" legislation that would give investors more of a voice in setting executive compensation packages. picked by 2manyusernames 5 months ago

Yay big government!

Seriously, why the hell is it the government's business to watch over the pay of CEOs?

Probably because the average consumer has become too much of a drone to stand up for themselves by boycotting/protesting/selling stock in companies that waste revenue on CEO salaries.

As long as he adds something to the effect that Congress only gets pay raises via ballot initiatives.

If you are going to limit the amount of money someone can pay themselves, maybe it would help to lead by example?

Actually I don't mind the salaries that congress gets. It is the grossly excessive legal perks and the huge amount of bribery given to almost all politicians, whether the bribery is covert or disguised as gifts, speaking fees, nice high-paying jobs for family members and after they leave office, etc etc.

Until the government gives the working class a means to fight for a fair wage across the board, they best moderate the wealth distribution themselves.

Ultimately, i dont believe in communism, but i dont believe that society should have a class based system where it is impossible to break the class boundaries you were born into with clean hard work. At the moment, with the rediculous pay managers and owners get, that is a far off dream.

Oh come on now, America does not make it "impossible to break the class boundaries you were born into". Far far far from it. There are millions of stories of people starting with nothing and becoming extremely wealthy.

There's the working class hero sterotype, and then there's the same type of guy who started out with just as little and retires wealthy, or at least well off.
The difference is where the effort is placed. You can show up, do your job and go home, and go no nowhere, or you can invest some effort into yourself while showing up and doing your job.

Class warfare is BS. You can be anything you are willing to pay the price for, even now, in this country and many others.
