I heard this story yesterday. I believe in 'no excuses' for past crimes like rape or murder.

If the guy really wants to atone for this (as it seems from the story), then he has no problem serving the time.

It's interesting that he admits raping her, and apologised for it in his emails but after his arrest he backpedalled.

I hope he really gets it now, not that it'll change her life any. If he doesn't, I guess he'll learn it in prison.

I agree, Tom....

I know there are a lot of details we're missing, but it seemed strange to me that he kept looking at the victim and her family and friends and they refused to look back at him.

However, I also agree with Bornbad...he did it, he should pay for his crime.

I agree, he should definitly pay for his horrible crime if he did do it.

Still proving he did it, may prove difficult if he recants his statement. He could easily say he just made that up so he had a good story to tell the group. Not saying he should, or would, just pointing out it would be easy.
