Part of a $451,000 grant. God I wish they did this sort of stuff when I was in school. But isn't getting the grade and getting into a good school supposed to be reward enough?

No, it's not "No Child Left Behind". Advanced Placement (AP) classes are college-level courses taken by high school students. If the student gets a 4 or a 5 on the exam, he/she can get college credit for the course. Trust me, these are not your average high school classes.
By the way, this whole "cash for AP exams" thing isn't new. I got what amounted to a full refund for the AP exams I did well in, and that was more than 10 years ago.

Really. It saved me money. I took and passed AP English, so I don't have to take freshman english, or even any english depending on the major I choose. LOL, I graduated in '83, I might get that BA some time... except I don't want a degree in Engineering....
