Vets say they feel misled about GI benefits
Cheated. Baited and switched. That's how veterans of Iraq and Afghanistan say they feel about military recruiters who sold them on how the GI Bill would benefit them. picked by dollyllama 4 months ago

Of course. If they had any idea how crapy we treat our soldiers and veterans they never would have shown up.

Hey, they said "Free medical care", not "good medical care"! Although the VA hospitals on the west coast are better than any military hospital I have ever been in!

I've only known of one GI Bill that did cover college without extra cost to the soldier, it was the post WWII era GI Bill. Current ones are fund matching only, and can't even be enrolled until after boot camp.

But still, if you REALLY want to support the troops, then fully fund the VA!

Recruiters Lie?! OMG.. This is completely new and hasn't happened in the past 200 years or so. This must be something that they just came up with.

I'll never put my faith in a recruiter again.

After joining the Air Force in 1951 and about a month into basic training, I looked out the barracks window and saw one of the newly arriving recruits carrying a bowling ball.

I thought that recruiter is the guy I'd hire as a salesman.

(Note: There were no bowling alleys on any basic training base in those years.)

Well now wait a minute, I put $1,200 bucks into my GI Bill and received $10,900 back over the next 4-5 years after I got out. ( I served 4 years)
Not only did it "help out"(this is the active term here folks) with my college degree, I also bought a nice used car with it.

The military teaches survival, in real world/battle situations. If you don't take steps to READ AND LEARN about what you’re getting yourself into, then shut up.

It also only cost me $400 down to buy my house.

"Don't trust East Coast VA hospitals, and Recruiters lie."
