I just turned 17 so I really don't give a rats @#$% what they do about it now. It is stupid and trivial though. I could buy an M rated game for my friend and it would be legal. Now when they TRY to make it illegal for anyone uner the age of 17 to PLAY these games it will get excessive

It's like R movies. I remember sneaking into them when I was 13 and 14. I don't know how they could possibly enforce a law of not letting people under age 17 play certain games. For stuff like that it is up to the parent. You are old enough to decide for yourself. And if your 16 year old friend wants to play the game so be it.

It's not a law but it is a rule that retailers follow. The pissant at the register on the other hand may choose to break that rule if he's ok risking the loss of his job or just indifferent.

If a "kid" wants to get an M-rated video game it is easy. Just ask their parents or older friends to buy it for them. In my experience, many M-rated games aren't even worth the money anyways. Game content is more important than the rating you give it. Some people just buy it because it has the rating and find out the game just plain sucks. Some game companies rely on the influx of buyers just because of the rating and ignore content or playability.

How are the children of these uptight parents getting the games in the first place? As stated above most likely by the same uptight parents.

I would support this, you have retailers like WalMart who do it already, and a few who don't care. They KNOW that the game is designed for M rated audiences, they simply don't care if a 12 year old picks it up as long as the almighty dollar is forked over. Now they'll have to care.
