UN halts aid to Myanmar
UN halts aid to Myanmar
A U.N. official says the World Food Program is suspending cyclone aid to Myanmar because its government seized supplies flown into the country.

It's very difficult to be subjective when things like this happen. picked by Bandit 3 months ago

wow. do these people not understand that they suffered a tragic event and the world is trying to help them?

there are times to be proud and stand on your own two feet but when one of them is broken you need something to lean on.

The people affected by this event and the government that rules them are different things entirely.

I don't necessarily agree with their position, but I can understand why they wouldn't choose to trust the United States. As I'm sure it's been noted, we don't have the best track record for foreign relations (especially within the last couple of years).

And let's face it...it's a double standard if independence is something Americans cherish, yet we garner some pretty serious upset when others (usually smaller countries) choose to stand on their own. Tibet may be an exception to this, but at the end of the day, we're more of a Chinese ally than we are a Tibetan ally.

It isn't just the US that they are refusing. It is aid from the entire rest of the world.
