Give me 5 years to live, and I'll be walking around doing whatever the f**k I want... let alone less than 5.

More power to him! Nobody puts Swayze in the corner.

I agree. I'd be the same. If I had cancer and knew I only had a short time to live I definitely wouldn't quit smoking. On the other hand, don't hold him up as a fine example of someone battling cancer.

*edit* Not that I'm saying he's wrong just that some people who have a chance of surviving cancer make huge changes to their diet/lifestyle and that really is battling cancer IMO.

Good on him though, no one can judge him for wanting to enjoy what he's got left.

Amen. I hope he smokes, drinks, stays up too late and screws as much as he wants. The hell with people who'd judge someone in his situation.

I'm just echoing sentiments already expressed, but hell yeah.

If I had a death sentence like pancreatic cancer you can guarantee that the first thing I'd do is start smoking again.

I reckon I might have developed a pretty healthy heroin habit by the end of, ooh, lets say the evening.

It'd pretty much be that if they can make it I'd take it.

I reckon given the circustances I'd have to join you chasing the dragon ;)

Although my drug of choice would be weed if I didn't have long to live. That said I'd prolly want to have a clear head to enjoy what time I had left with my kids and other half.

God I hope I never get cancer....

Me either. Both of us. Well, all of us, really.

I quit the weed a few years back because I was getting more and more prone to paranoia when high, so I suspect that if the thought "Holy Crap! I'm dying of cancer!" were lurking in my mind it might well not enhance the experience. I'd have to find out though.

Coincidentally, I'm reminded of Aldous Huxley, author of The Doors of Perception and a man who shuffled off this mortal coil while tripping balls. He went as far as, part way through the experience, asking for a second dose as he was coming down.

That, I think, would be a good way to go.
