Polar bears were listed on Wednesday as threatened under the U.S. Endangered Species Act because their sea ice habitat is melting away, Interior Secretary Dirk Kempthorne announced.

Save the Polar Bears! My favorite animal is the polar bear. I had a stuffed polar bear toy that I bought in Juneau, AK on my first patrol up there. Everyone thought I bought it for eljay (and I made them believe that), but it was really for me and me alone! I let my girls use him (his name is Nanook) for comfort when I was away on patrol or extended duty.

I was told by an Inuk to not talk about Nanuuq because it's bad luck. Meeting Nanuuq out in the field would definitely be bad luck!

(Marsupials scare me... Because they're fast) I was more referring to New Englanders. Though that is a bit of an assumption as I was raised by New Englanders not in New England.
