Oh my I see many comments coming this way. Where to begin? My biggest problem with this situation is that his outbursts and tantrums were not addressed until he attacked the teacher. What about the kids in the class? clearly learning would not be a comfortable environment with him around. You can't touch the kid because you might be fired and charged with abuse. What do you do. The boy, based on the article requires extra attention and possibly counseling. The family needs to be a part of this well. As I said before, my biggest problem here is that it hasn't been addressed until now.

Gram-momma says: "he loves to hit".

Obviously that kids mom dumped him on his grand mother, who it appears would rather have someone else raise the kid. I imagine being that unwanted would make anybody pretty mad.

Hopefully he will turn around before he winds up in jail.

Too late on "jail." He was already arrested.
Perhaps "prison" might be a better choice of words.

"If he was overpowering her that much, I feel like she shouldn't be in that line of work," said Dorothy.

And if she hit the kid back she'd be fired and sued. I don't believe the gmom for ONE SECOND when she said she'd be OK for the teacher to restrain him by touching.

Lock the litte f***er up..he's got no future.

If they don't do something about this kids horrible anger issues at 8, by 13 he will already have murdered someone and be trailed as an adult.

It's obvious both the boy and the grandma needs some help. I'm sure grandma is completely overwhelmed by her "spirited" grandson and is leaning on the school to deal with it. She didn't seem at all apologetic or embarrassed by the situation and instead pointed her finger at the school and blamed them for letting it go so far.

I know..I thought about taking the last part out since it was a bit harsh, but honestly...when you take the WHOLE article into consideration:

GMOM raising the child no mom or dad to be seen (reporter says "her child"), VIOLENT temper at 8, GMom blaming SCHOOL for not handling it, "let somebody else deal with it" attitude, sloppy "low income" dialects...

..this boy doesn't stand a chance.

That isn't fair, the kid is only in second grade and clearly has no good role models atm. that poor kid may need counseling, or may have some real issues, but it is clear he isn't being disciplined properly and that can lead to trouble with any child.

I love how the grandma pretty much blames it on the school by saying that she shouldn't be in the class if she couldn't restrain him. Not if you actually parent your kids. Whether it is a grandmother or not, she is responsible for him.

UGH!!! People can be lame.
