No Free Man shall be taken or imprisoned, or be disseised of his Freehold, or Liberties, or free Customs, or be outlawed, or exiled, or any other wise destroyed; nor will We not pass upon him, nor condemn him, but by lawful judgment of his Peers, or by the Law of the Land. We will sell to no man, we will not deny or defer to any man either Justice or Right.

How apt that Gordon Brown should choose this anniversary week to carry out another phase of his systematic rape of the Magna Carta.

Sort of increases the magnitude of his contempt by a few degrees.

I'm coming to expect nothing less than the complete disregard for public opinion that he's shown over the 42 day law. The guys a buffoon.

This is pretty funny.

There is a theory that John Major's only purpose was to lose the 1992 election, allowing the Labour Party in to reap the devastation caused by 18 years of Thatcherite rule. This would then appear to be Labour's fault and at the next election the Tories would have been swept back into power.

He failed at this, getting re-elected against all the odds, and as it was it was the Tories who endured the culmination of their actions in their previous terms, all of which helped no end in sweeping New Labour in in 1997.

I can't help but wondering if NL are having another stab at this approach with Mr Brown.

We can only hope it actually works this time round. Although the potential replacements aren't exactly anything to hold a party about.

As bad as Brown is, I can't help but feel that things would go from bad to impossibly worse if Cameron got any real power.

More than any other opposition leader in history (with the possible exception of his predecessor, Michael Howard) he seems obsessed with the notion that point scoring is more important that policy. He is an embarrassment to himself, his party and our country.

Did you see the fromage-fest of a video he did? The "At my normal home with my normal family doing normal things" one.

Cringe-worthy to say the least.

I avoided it - it just sounded to awful to contemplate.

I got to see one of the original copies of the Magna Carta at Salisbury Cathedral. That was pretty cool. They had it in a side room that had painted walls and flooring which was being restored. I really liked Salisbury, and Sarum, and all the plains around there.

And I'm glad our Supreme Court decided that Habeas Corpus is still a valid concept in Amurka...
