Wow, that's scary. I know of MANY abandoned graveyards in the northern Fla area that are only overgrown and 'lost'. I'll never find my GG-grandpa's grave....

I bet this is why World War Z will start - disrespect for the graveyards around the world! I bet Florida is the first to fall...

Thank god I live on the other side of the country!

I don't think the government has any responsibility to step in and correct the problem like they are doing. It isn't the taxpayer's burden to solve the problems of private business.

Well, unless there is a health risk, than yes it should be done.

Other than that, it should be the responsibility of the business owner and/or property owner. If they can't or won't correct it, than let the families either sue to force the person to solve, or they can win a judgment on the business, receive the land as partial compensation and pay to rebury the people themselves.

Something like this could end up costing the city 100's of thousands of dollars or more. I wonder which programs will have to be cut so that a handful of families can get such special treatment.

Yes, it is horrible to see your ancestors bones be desecrated like that. I am just saying it isn't and shouldn't be government's responsibility to solve the problem since it was a private business.

well if the city cant figure out who owns it then I think its pretty much they're job to take care of it.. it says the city owns the other graveyard in the area and that one is well maintained so why not help out with this one?

I thought it was kinda ironic though that they said the lady heard about it then rushed there and then complained about it not knowing what shape it was in, if she really cared that much she would have at least visited sometime within the past years or so to check on the old relatives and maybe realised it for herself b4 hearing about it through the news.
