You do realize that when you post comments like that people take it on face value, presume it's a kind of dupe and downvote out of hand.

I've seen it happen a lot when you've made similar comments on other peoples posts.

and although I said NOT a dupe, it is an update, it is just the same story 2 months later where they are still making their demands.

An update with no new info, but a valid update in the fact that the protest is still going on.

Out of sheer curiosity, are you American?

I'm not, but I wanted to learn all about Hawai'i before I visited there a few years ago. I knew there was a revolutionary spirit amongst indigenous people there, and it's good to see this sort of thing in the popular news from time to time.

I don't know how feasible independence would be at this point in time, but it's good to see people standing up for their culture and history.

When I read Princess Kaiulani's book a few years ago, it made me feel like s**t for being an American.
We went there, and played "finders keepers", stealing their island from them. Mixed up their entire culture, and screwed up their way of life.

If it happened to black people, we would be right on giving them money to fix it.
I say give them back their country.

Take your navy, your infrastructure, your massive importing system, your money and your people and leave us in poverty plz!

Hawaii has just one important use for the USA; Pearl Harbor. It is a strategic need and that is all.

They were doing absolutely fine as a small country, beforehand.
Thriving, even.
I don't see why they can't go back to that.
