British woman arrested for having sex on a beach in Dubai
Apparently she doesn't understand how much they frown on that sort of thing in Muslim countries... and didn't learn anything the FIRST time she was caught and warned. picked by tigertony 1 month ago

She was warned!? Then I have to agree with the authorities on this one. They gave them a chance to "get a room" and they said "f**k it".... literally.

If foreigners don't want to follow our laws while in our countries we get all bent out of shape.

Seems it works both ways.

She and her partner committed a crime in another country, they should be subject to those laws as others are subject to our laws.

Since they were warned, then any thought of sympathy is out the door

What I can't believe is that she didn't learn from the first time that sand in your nasty bits is no fun.

She could not help it, it wasn't her fault: she was a female on vacation.

She sounds compulsive, and has a problem with authority.

No, wait! That's me!

There are few drinks that I know of. Even less that I know what actually goes into them. After reading this article my comment was going to be this:

All this time, and I thought sex on the beach was just a drink. Go figure.

Why? Because you can't f**k on the beach?

If you get caught f**king in public in most countries you can get arrested. I know for a fact that if you get caught doing the nasty dance in England in a public place that it's an arrestable offence, I know this from personal experience :D

In this case the woman faces various charges

as well as indecent behaviour in public, being drunk in public, and assaulting a police officer.
Plus, as has already been mentioned by 2many

When the pair were allegedly found having sex by a policeman, he is said to have let them off with a caution. However, later, after the couple were discovered in the same position, they were arrested, and Miss Palmer is said to have become aggressive.
They'd been cautioned once, hardly unreasonable that she got arrested the second time round. In this country at least if a cop cautions you for something like this and then finds you again doing exactly the same thing then you're asking to get your ass hauled off.

Seems the woman is getting more flack than her partner.

The article mentions her partner briefly a few times, but it is "the woman" who is being targeted in the article.

It might, not saying it is, but it might be the case that whoever she was with was calm and approachable whereas she may have been loud, drunk obnoxious and aggressive which would certainly fit in with the charges.

I tend to get a little edgy myself if I don't get to finish. ;)

Miss Palmer told the Sun that she fears she will be 'made an example of' under the strict laws of a country where even mild public displays of affection are frowned upon.
Sounds like they were trying to MAKE an example. She knew the customs. It's amazing the officer let them off with a caution when he saw them.

What idiots. Like one of them didn't have a room to go to instead. NOW she's all worried about how this is affecting her family. Sheesh

No, the man seems to be facing the exact same charges and the exact same penalties.

The only difference is the woman is the one trying to use her female status to gather sympathy and hope for assistance.

I don't see her "using" her female status for sympathy at all. She didn't write the article. They only interviewed her and not her partner.

I see the media portraying the story how they wish it to be seen.

She obviously is an active participant in the news coverage and was likely a driving force behind it being in the news.

Nothing wrong with that in the slightest. Anyone with the least amount intelligence will utilize any weapon they have to help them.

Gaining the help of the public is part of that effort.

It isn't an insult - not in the least.
