Women 'taxed' for having big breasts
Women 'taxed' for having big breasts
Big breasted woman claim they are being discriminated against by companies which charge a 'tit-tax' on larger bras.

Campaigners say it is unfair that larger bras cost more than smaller ones when other items of clothing are the same cost irrespective of size. picked by angtang 3 months ago

"criminally unfair?"
"discriminated?"

The more an item or service cost the more it needs to retail for to have the same profit margin.

Bras that are much larger than average cost the company more so they charge extra. Not only do they cost more to make, but if they don't sell as many as they do the more common sizes, then it cost them more to stock so the retailer has an extra cost as well as the wholesaler.

Many places do charge extra for clothing that is much larger than average.

Ugh.
Not only are they hard to find but yeah they charge more and it's a crock of s**t.
Why don't they charge more for the tiny bras that have 50 layers of padding then?
It's bulls**t.

I checked and I didn't see it written anywhere that there was an inalienable right to a bra.

Your comment included the reason for the surcharge.

"they are hard to find"
They are hard to find because not as many people are buying them as other sizes.

Not as many purchasers just adds to the expense of producing and retailing the product. Extra expense that has to be passed on to the consumer.

Those tiny bras that have 50 layers of padding sell in large enough quantities that the extra expense is spread out amongst so many units that it isn't a factor.

Sorry, but get over it.

Other articles of clothing follow this same practice--I should know, I pay anywhere from $3 to $5 more for a pair of pants that are tall versus 'regular'. This has been the norm for most clothing stores for decades--finding someplace that doesn't charge extra is a boon.

On the other end of the spectrum, I find it hard to find workwear that's small enough for me. So many items are designed for men, and the stuff designed for women is inherently more expensive, likely because it's less popular. Regardless, these people do need to get over it.

"cost more than smaller ones when other items of clothing are the same cost irrespective of size"

I pay 40 for a new Large football shirt, so is it unfair that I pay that because two sizes smaller only costs 35 and a size smaller than that costs 30?

Just because I'm naturally taller than the average person I can understand that there is a premium that must be paid as material and labour also comes at a cost. I think that we should all start complaining now because we are forced to pay extra because of our size.

This has been going on for years where guys have paid a premium based on the size that they wear. The same goes for pretty much everything like shoes, shirts, t-shirts, trousers etc. But now that women are being charged an extra 2 for bras it's an outrage.

I think in the end there's only one word to describe the whole thing: Business

Huh, I haven't noticed a difference in cost... But what I have noticed, is that all the cute bras come in sizes that go up to C. From there on, a lot of stores offer only baggy looking odd colored things.
