Newspaper misspells its own name on front page
No media organisation can claim to be immune from spelling mistakes, but a local paper in the United States may have set a new standard for most glaring typo. picked by AutumnLotus 4 months ago

At least they had the courage to admit they screwed up and even take a jab at themselves.

Wow... it makes me feel.. well.. amazed. Boiletplate! Letterhead! how about just a Template?!

I don't know why they don't re-use a standard masthead but it boggles the mind that it was typed (and typoed) and that it wasn't setup correctly to NOT be editable in the first place.

Silly silly newspaper.

I am such a horrible speller that half the time I don't notice mistakes. The other half? I am excited if I catch a mistake. It means I spelled something right! yay me!

And here's something interesting. As of today (07/28/08), the Valley News' own web-archived copy of the faux pas, mentioned and linked in the article above, has been corrected. Way to keep your archive a true and unaltered record of history, Valley News; in something as insignificant (journalistically speaking) as a typo in your own brand.

No idea when the correction was posted, but that seems a bit of revisionist overkill for something that the paper said in their acknowledgement made them feel, simply, "silly".

Original, from the article above:

From the linked Valley News "archive", http://www.vnews.com/07212008/07212008.htm with the error expunged:
