Why the Press Is Ignoring the Edwards "Love Child" Story?
Why the Press Is Ignoring the Edwards "Love Child" Story?
Edwards, too, may be a sex hypocrite. The tabloid [The National Enquirer] called Edwards a cheater last October and the father of a love child in December, and last night the Enquirer posted a story about Edwards' visit to his alleged mistress and child at the Beverly Hilton on Monday night. That's pretty much my take... about blogs like the Huffington post, Thinkprogress, and the like.

Let's see how it plays out. From what I've heard this isn't the usual second hand account. There were actual NE people on the scene.

As a potential Democratic running mate, I think Obama may have added this to the list of stuff the media is not allowed to talk about.

Well, that's why when someone on another blog brought it up yesterday, I didn't think much of the story. And honestly, I still don't.

However, Slate is a bit better known, and affiliated with NBC... so the story has a little something behind it. But I think the media's lack of interest in the story, even though it was The Enquirer who broke it, says something.

And I'm not trying to do anything. Just thought it was interesting. Can you imagine if this is true, and Edwards had won the nomination? Things would be really funky right about now.

Oh lord... even more so than they are? in my mind I see Obama and McCain standing in a school yard with a line drawn in the dirt between them... behind them both are hoards of people yelling "fight!, fight!, fight!" .... but you KNOW McCain would throw the first punch ;)

But the teachers would blame McCain, and Obama would get a gold star. It really wouldn't matter who started it... Obama would smile, and the teachers would swoon, and the students would be left confused.

Well, that's only half true. He was rumored to be on Obama's "short list."

But even so, as the article asks... why not cover this, if so much interest was made of the Larry Craig deal?

I think more people would look at it more closely if there were actual proof, like photos or a more credible witness. There was proof of at least an arrest in the Larry Craig story. I'm reserving judgment until credible proof surfaces.

I think it's unfair to down vote something simply because you don't agree with it. Downvotes should be used sparingly, and only when someone violates the rules.

I agree. And that's why it struck me as odd that someplace like Slate would pick this story up. Makes me think it has legs... although, I need more proof before I believe anything.

INB, why do you only post "political" stories that are in some way extremely slanted towards your own political views. Surely plimeworthy news should be based on individual merit not based on posting anything that is totally biased towards your political leanings.

I mean to say, all your many Obama articles are completely negative about Obama and any other stories you post are negative about the Democrats etc.

Seen as you are so vocal about sites like the Huffington post and other politically "biased" sites (interestingly you only mention sites that are biased against your political leanings) it seems strange that you want to post so many biased articles on Plime.

that is true. Also I don't care if Edwards has a "love child" or even if he had 18,549 love children.

However, Imnotblue is hardly the only one who post political articles that are slanted, that match his own beliefs.

In fact there are only a handful that I have noticed so far that are able to post articles from either a neutral point of view or post political articles from multiple sides. You seem to be one of that select group which I admire.

Also just because the articles are slanted doesn't mean the article doesn't have truth behind it. (a point that has no bearing on this article because who really cares if someone has a love child or not)
