Georgia ‘Extreme Makeover’ House In Foreclosure
Georgia ‘Extreme Makeover’ House In Foreclosure
Extreme Makeover and Beezer Homes builds you a luxury home, gives you 100,000 dollars, paid off your mortgage, and you lose the home to foreclosure.

How the hell does that happen? picked by DemureArt 4 weeks ago

What idiots to take out $575K in loans against the house. Talk about blowing a second chance. Serves them right if they lose it.

uh, because they took out 2 loans on the home, 1 of which they refuse to pay.

I was wondering when this was going to happen.

I'm surprised it took this long.

Stupid homeowners, Loans are for buying a home, not a trip to the Casino.
How or Why someone would take that much out against themselves is beyond me.

... the answer is (E) None Of The Above

The "winners" simply saw this as a chance at easy cash, and took out their loans, refusing to pay, thus getting free money at the cost of a house they probably don't need anyway.

They'll move elsewhere, buy a cheaper house, and have a bunch of cash.

Unrighteous, totally wrong, uncool, but... they'll get away with it.

Clever.

I hope it's worth it to them.

I always thought the homes were too much. Wasteful. Huge big screen tvs in all the rooms, seems like they spare no expense. Still alot of house to heat, cool and pay taxes on. Do they all really need ALL that they are given?

Can you build a nice, efficient house suited to the needs of the family alot cheaper?

Hell yeah.

And probably build MORE houses for more people in need as well.

It just goes to show you that when you hand things, lots of things, to people who don't work for what they get, they appreciate it very little. Some of the stories of the families are very touching, but if I ever watch that show, which I don't anymore, I am always uncomfortable with the amount of showering they do on the family. I think it may be a little hard to keep your dignity when everything of value you own has been handed to you in a garish display for the sole purpose of hidden free advertising and ratings.
Yuck.

More on the story from the Atlanta ABC affiliate (with video).

Sadly I was not surprised. They've been trying to sell it for a while now. No way it's going to sell for what it's worth - it's smack dab in the middle of a 40 year old subdivision of homes worth $180K max. Completely overbuilt for the area. Once again, not Clayton County's finest hour.
