Whatever happens to them it isn't as bad as they deserve for firing an employee for no reason other than one customer (who obviously has issues with his own sexuality) demanded that the man be fired.

Oh, I suppose they'll try to spin some sort of health issue to it, but that is bull s**t. Kurt is certainly safer and more tested than the other employees. Do they plan on firing all employees who have more than one sexual partner?

I would imagine there will be mass protests both on a national scale (which is undeserving) and on a local scale. I bet there are more gays and people who don't want to accept discrimination in that town then the one individual who got pissy because Subway hired a gay person.

I agree with some of what you said but you MAY be underestimating the power of the Christian Right.

I suspect that most national corporations would fire anyone who has acted in a porn movie regardless of the sexual orientation involved.

What I am assuming is the national corporation didn't fire him. The owner of the individual franchise fired him. I figure with the bad publicity this will garner, it will be too much for the lone franchise owner to deal with.

Of course it could be a corporate owned store, don't know.

But I'm thinking with all the states that are considering anti gay marriage statutes, there won't be much of a protest against this at all. In fact if it was done by a local owner I believe that the parent corp will back it.


In some towns there will certainly be some sort of protest, mostly by the gay community....read San Francisco for example.

I don't think gays enjoy much national support and when you add porn into the mix it's much worse.

Subway's ad's stress "wholesome, nutritious." Gay porn, or any porn for that matter, is a bit outside that parameter.

I looked it up on the internet, and it seems "Subway" is invading my country as well. But no way I'll ever buy a sandwich from them, I don't care if this was the decision of one franchiser or not.

Does it really matter if the person who makes your sandwich also makes porn movies?

The guy who threw the hissy fit now has to explain to all his family and friends exactly HOW he knew the guy was a gay porn actor. If he recognized him from movies, he must have seen more than one of them.

I don't recall any reference to any religious group in the story at all.

I really don't feel that is a leap to any unusual conclusion. They have been on record of being anti gay and if I remember correctly they were putting pressure on the Disney corp on some gay issue. I also believe it was unsuccessful.

My comment was in response to BB's comment about strong support for the fired employee.
I think the CR will feel obligated to support and buy at Subway and they are a strong organization.

I recently met a gal who worked for a while as a 'large girls lingerie model'. When her church found out about the work she'd done, they banned her from all their volunteer programs.

I don't get why it matters to some people.

I think the more outrageous thing is that the guy was working for minimum wage at Subway rather than making hundreds of dollars a day having sex with whom he chooses.

I think he was doing it because he likes handling meat.

I guess the guy perked up when the man ordered a 12 inch.

The actor worked at Subway because he could squeeze his dressing on peoples' buns, just like he used to.
