I work as a sub-editor. This guy is f**king ridiculous.
If I had to highlight all the changes I need to make, then get the contributor's say-so to make them, I would probably quit. Does he have any idea how laborious and time-wasting a process that would be?
He's b***hing because someone cocked up his awful 'joke'; but the fact is, it does read better (albeit bad stressing) in the edited version. His intentions were vague and pointless, and sub-editors are there to sift through that crap.
Unless you write to an impeccable, perfect, faultless level, and know the house style of where you're submitting inside-out, expect your work to be subbed.
