I saw a report a few years ago on the news about a car modification kit that, for a few hundred bucks, can allow your car to run on animal fat. They said that people who use it typically buy it off cheap or get it out of dumpsters from restaurants. He probably used something similar. Human fat probably isn't much different.
I think he was putting a perfectly good waste product to use. What's going to happen to the fat otherwise? Undoubtedly the energy from the fat will be wasted in some kind of disposal process.

Still though, it's a bit creepy.
I have a Greasecar kit in my Mercedes diesel. Works great. I have burned bacon grease (mixed with other oils) in it with no problem - I can't imagine that liposuction "remains" are much different. You'd want to make sure they were rendered out well first, which would be absolutely gross. Gets the same mileage on grease as it does on diesel. I mostly burn fryer grease from a local restaurant (vegetable oil).
