We have said all along that we must pass federal legislation to stop horse slaughter and the need has never been more urgent.

On January 22, please call your two U.S. senators and U.S. representative and express your support to end horse slaughter permanently.

Canada reclaims women's hockey title

Canada reclaims women's hockey title
<issued>2007-04-11T21:24:16+01:00</issued><modified>2007-04-11T21:24:16+01:00</modified>
Canada reclaimed the women's world hockey championship with a 5-1 victory over the United States on Tuesday night.

Canadian PM: Quebec as a nation within united Canada

Canadian PM: Quebec as a nation within united Canada
<issued>2006-11-22T23:45:21+01:00</issued><modified>2006-11-22T23:45:21+01:00</modified>
Prime Minister Stephen Harper introduced a motion recognizing Quebec as a nation within Canada — a symbolic move pre-empting Quebec's separatist party.

Canada teens collect 12,000 batteries

Canada teens collect 12,000 batteries
<issued>2007-04-28T12:43:17+01:00</issued><modified>2007-04-28T12:43:17+01:00</modified>
Seventh and eighth grade students in Canada collected more than 12,000 used batteries to recycle only to have local authorities refuse to pick them up.

Canada Post cowed by "very threatening cat"

Canada Post cowed by "very threatening cat"
<issued>2007-05-04T22:04:09+01:00</issued><modified>2007-05-04T22:04:09+01:00</modified>
Canada's postal system has stopped delivering mail to a home in Winnipeg, Manitoba, after a mail carrier was scared away by a "very threatening cat," the Winnipeg Free Press said on Friday.

Canada to ban incandescent light bulbs

Canada to ban incandescent light bulbs
<issued>2007-04-28T20:01:52+01:00</issued><modified>2007-04-28T20:01:52+01:00</modified>
Canada has switched on to Australia's plan to ban incandescent light bulbs, with Ottawa announcing its own timetable to ban the sale of the inefficient bulbs by 2012.

A cure for cancer- that you can't have

A cure for cancer- that you can't have
<issued>2007-07-17T16:00:21+01:00</issued><modified>2007-07-17T16:00:21+01:00</modified>
A medicine has been found to kill breast, lung, and brain cancer cells without harming any surrounding normal cells in lab rats, by scientists in Canada.
