This is an interesting power switch which I found on a control panel at my university's sound recording studio.

When I flipped it out of curiosity, the labeling turned out to be true.

I think this pic grants fundamental insight to a technician's brain: When that switch became obsolete one day, he didn't remove it - he just altered the label according to the new circuit diagram: It's closed in each position.

Probably more trouble than it was worth to remove it, and he may have screwed up something else in the process. So for safety's sake, he made the label read accurately.
