Boomer's an attractive fella. Is he a TB? The black one in my pic is a Trakehner and the one in my avi is an off track TB.

Just took these a couple hours ago.

Yes, Boomer is TB. Ex-racer. Almost all of mine have been off the track. I got him when he was 4 from Delaware Park. He is now 21. The cancer is a longggggg story. He became very ill, my vet was stumped, I took him to Marion DuPont Equine in Leesburg, VA and they did ultrasounds, lung x-rays, belly tap and a tracheal wash. They only found cells in his fluids. He then had a large abscess break open on his chest, which was what the issue was all along but the ultrasound never showed the abscess. So, possible misdiagnosis ($3K later) but no one knows for sure, and he does have melanomas everywhere. So he could have internal tumors, but none showed from the ultrasound on organs they normally seed on. They diagnosed him in Oct '05 and gave him a few months to live. He's still here and just as rowdy as every. Acts like a 3 year old.
I have a weakness for TB's (I like them with some spit and fire) but love Warmbloods/Trakehners etc. I like 'em big! The horse in your Avatar has got some scope to him. :)

You know, we had a 29 year old appendix mare who they had decided had cancer, same deal. Couldn't find them anywhere, did the belly tap, lung x-rays, etc. Told us to put her down. She lost a ton of weight and was really pathetic for a while. Finally tried some sort of super strong antibiotic, and she turned right around. She's now 32, fat, happy, and shiny, and teaching the little kids to ride.

The one in my avi is my TB mare, she's a pretty good jumper, but my Trak mare is the one who can really fly. She's Olympic jumping lines through Abdullah and competing at Training level (eventing) this year (my TB is doing novice). Here's her at the second element of a tough downhill combo at training level last fall:



The TB mare came from Penn National last March. Mobase told me you guys live right near there. Small world. The track is funny, I feel like I'm buying drugs over there, everywhere you go, seedy looking trainers come up and say things like "I hear you're in the market, got something you might want"
