We're euthanizing our cat today.

We got Josey on our 1st anniversary - almost 15 years ago.

About 4 days ago, she climbed behind a mirror (similar to this) and refused to get up.

She stopped eating and drinking.

We gave her IV fluids, but she kept crashing.

Yesterday, Lisa felt a huge lump in her chest.

I'm very, very sad. I love that cat very much. She's a beautiful Tortoiseshell. I'll try to find pictures of her later.

How many dogs does it take to change a light bulb?

Golden Retriever:

"The sun is shining, the day is young, we’ve got our whole lives ahead of us, and you’re inside worrying about a stupid burned out bulb?"

Border Collie:

"Just one. And then I’ll replace any wiring that’s not up to code."

Dachshund:

"You know I can’t reach that stupid lamp!"

Rottweiler:

"Make me." (If you think this is a joke, you've never owned a Rottweiler!)

Boxer:

"Who cares? I can still play with my squeaky toys in the dark."

Lab:

"Oh, me, me!!!!! Pleeeeeeeeeze let me change the light bulb! Can I? Can I? Huh? Huh? Huh? Can I? Pleeeeeeeeeze, please, please, please!"

German Shepherd:

"I’ll change it as soon as I’ve led these people from the dark, check to make sure I haven’t missed any, and make just one more perimeter patrol to see that no one has tried to take advantage of the situation."

Jack Russell Terrier:

"I’ll just pop it in while I’m bouncing off the walls and furniture."

Old English Sheep Dog:

"Light bulb? I’m sorry, but I don’t see a light bulb!"

Cocker Spaniel:

"Why change it? I can still pee on the carpet in the dark."

Chihuahua:

"Yo quiero Taco Bulb. Or 'We don’t need no stinking light bulb.'"

Greyhound:

"It isn’t moving. Who cares?"

Australian Shepherd:

"First, I’ll put all the light bulbs in a little circle..."

Poodle:

"I’ll just blow in the Border Collie’s ear and he’ll do it. By the time he finishes rewiring the house, my nails will be dry."

How many cats does it take to change a light bulb?

"Cats do not change light bulbs. People change light bulbs. So, the real question is: 'How long will it be before I can expect some light, some dinner, and a massage?'"

ALL OF WHICH PROVES, ONCE AGAIN, THAT WHILE DOGS HAVE MASTERS, CATS HAVE STAFF!

I'm disappointed with the first aid course I'm taking right now. It's decent and all, but it's so hard to apply what we're being taught to a real emergency situation I'm most likely to encounter.

Sure, it's great to call an ambulance if I see someone hit by lightening and then not move them if I don't need to, but what if that lightening strike occurs in the middle of the bush where we're possibly DAYS away from proper medical aid? Then what?

That question is a bit rhetorical there, because my last first aid course was an 80hr wilderness one, and it was FANTASTIC! I'd love to refresh my knowledge there and I don't know why our OHS guy keeps refusing to book us wilderness instructors.

Sorry to hear, Icepigs. At least she won't continue to suffer. And 15 years is a good run.

Thanks, guys.

We put her down during lunch today. It was much more emotional that I thought it would be. (and I knew it would be emotional).

She was my kitty. She slept next to me on the bed and sat in my lap while I watched TV. She would even come to me if I called her name.

Rest In Peace, Josey-Bear.....

RIP Josey-Bear.

I'm so sorry to hear this icepigs. 15 years is a long time, and I know how attached one can become. It sounds like she loved her Daddy very much.

:(

I have a particular calico that, against my best effort, has stole my heart, and even though she's only a year old, I dread the day I'll have to say goodbye.

I just got this question from a friend of mine who just started to learn English. She is smart, has a PhD in molecular biology, she is just a beginner to English.

"The s at the end of a word is used with or without an ' mark and this ' mark seems to tell what the letter s actually means: is it plural or possessive.

its stands for possessive
it's stands for "it is"
Now then how should I write the plural?"

I wish I could see her face when she figures it out.

Me neither. I always thought the apostrophe was usually used to indicate possession (i.e.: Tommy's bat). The extra "s" beside the apostrophe disappears for words that end in "s" (i.e.: The Jones' house). "It is" is properly "its" and shouldn't have an apostrophe unless there is something else that belongs to "it."

But then, I'm no English teacher so maybe I'm wrong.

It's vs. Its

Not sure if you were actually asking, or if you were pondering when she actually figures it out because you already knew.

Icepigs: SO sorry about you losing your kitty. I have several. I didn't intend it that way. Sort of happened when I started helping ferals. But there's one... Zorro, that will break my heart when he goes. I have no idea why. But there's just something about Zorro. We're kind of joined at the hip.

I can't believe you people are pondering the plural of 'it'.

There is no plural of it.

You would say "go get it" and if there's more than one you'd say "go get those". "Go get its" doesn't even make sense.

Its are ugly.

Those are ugly.

(Sorry to hear about Josey the kitty, piggy.)

Man, I hear you there. My wife and kids begged to get a dog for the longest time. We have like ten square feet of yard, so I was telling them no. But then they begged and pleaded and my wife made "special deals" (yeah, you know what I'm talking about; sexual deals, hot kinky sex deals, the kind that she has no intention of following through with)

So I said okay. I didn't even have a say in what kind of dog they brought home because they kind of met a puppy at a friends farm and brought it back.

It's a blue-tick mix, and blue-ticks are hard to train, stubborn, and not exactly the most intelligent dogs (it ate shards of glass once, whined a little, and then tried to chew some more). Anyway, I tried not to like it; really tried. But he's a good dog overall.

Oh, here's the kicker: I found out after we got the dog and my wife promised to take care of him and train him and everything; that my wife has never had a f**king dog in her life. She had no idea how to train him. So guess who had to work with it? f**king dog.

And to top that off they gave him an uber-gay name, the poor guy. "Jasper".

*sigh*

Oh, I am so sorry. We had our sweet girl cat Crystal euthanized March 25, 2007. She lived and died with great dignity, as I know your Josey did.
It was the first time I'd ever had to do this, and it was much harder than I expected. I dread the deaths of the three kitties we now have.

Peace and comfort to Josey cat.
