Ummm... with all the real crimes out there, they are focusing on this? Do they realize that if they went after every teen strumpet on the internet they wouldn't have time to go after murderers, rapists and telemarketers?

This is a travesty. The girl is just being a typical teenager. Fine, if you feel you must, charge her with some sort of misdemeanor, but to charge her with multiple child pornography counts, to label her a sex offender with all the baggage that goes on to that is ridiculous.
She would be forced to disclose her address for ever, neighborhoods would know she was some sort of sexual offender and would assume the worst. Could hurt her from finding employment and a place to live even when she becomes an adult.
Heck, as a sexual offender law would state that she can't be around children, I guess she can't go to school anymore.
You can see all the other asinine effects that charging her with sex crimes entails.

Is it even possible to be convicted of crime you commit on yourself?
(Although I do know that some states had laws that made it a crime to commit or attempt to commit suicide. Ironically, the maximum penalty was death.)
