The 20 Worst Cover Songs in Pop Music History Posted: 2 years ago by Mershaullk
Covering other people's material is a mainstay in pop music. Why bother taking the time to write an original song when you can just recycle somebody else's hit, redo it with an acoustic guitar (or, if it's an acoustic song, with an electric guitar) and generate the same result?

I have to agree - some of those were awful!

Some, however, I liked: I thought GNR did a decent cover of 'knockin' on heaven's door'.

I heard some countrified version of 'the weight' the other day, and it felt like an assault on my eardrums. That's one cover that should never have happened!

I have a CD called "Stoned Country" with country style covers of the Rolling Stones. I'm afraid to even open the case.

I disagree on the G&R version of Knockin' on heavens door, and Limp Bizkit's version Behind Blue Eyes being on the list.

The rest is indeed crap IMHO.

The Celine Dion one was posted here a couple of months ago, the rest I never knew about, thankfully! What a horrific bunch of covers.

If you are going to do a cover do one that fits your range and your demographic.

Hillary Duff singing My Generation!? I mean lets forget for the moment that she does not have 1% of the talent that Pete has, but as commented on the page, the song and its message just doesn't fit her bubble-gum image/personna
