It doesn't surprise me. Punk Rock music (and I've dealt in it for many years) was supposed to be an adjunct to Rock and Roll, and a resurgence of raw guitar and chutzpah-primacy in rock. Kids are not supposed to like it.
Send them to Bacharach if they persist in their learning. ;)
