I'd hate to oscillate between the edges of the hole. I think I'd be scared to jump into a hole through a planet, but curiosity would definitely take over and I'd jump.
I really wish this were possible on Earth.

On a different note. I have often argued with friends over what would happpen, and this is pretty much what I'd come up with, so that's pretty cool.
What I wasn't sure about is whether you might actually gain enough momentum to shoot out the other side, much further than just the rim. And if there's a vacuum, would it go on forever or would you eventually stop in the middle?

Yes, I did read the article. I think that if they want to write about the moon, then they should put it into their title, instead of having a misleading title.

This article is slightly wrong. The moon is not a good inertial frame of reference, because it rotates on its axis once every 4 weeks. If you jumped into that hole, you would spiral through it and hit the sides pretty quickly.

Hah! Was kind of more about the point that if you dug a straight hole through the earth from any given landmass (that is to say, through the center and onward), you're more than likely going to hit water on the other side. :)
