Britons Weary of Surveillance in Minor Cases Posted: 1 month ago by 2manyusernames
"They said my privacy wasn’t intruded on because the surveillance was covert."
That is what a school said to Jenny Paton when they spied on her and her family, phone records and more. Was she suspected of terrorism? No, she was suspected of falsifying her address to enroll her daughter into school. Lucky for her she recycles her trash or it could have been far worse.

According to their laws, apparently, yes, that's true. However, that provision makes 0 sense whatsoever. In fact, I'd be more worried about covert surveillance rather than over surveillance.

Apparently, this did not make any impression.

The school doesn't seem to understand what "intruding on someones privacy" means.

The whole process is so shrouded in mystery that few people ever take it this far. “Because no one knows you have a right to know you’re under surveillance,” Ms. Paton said, “nobody ever makes a complaint.”
contentment and acceptance feeds the beast.
