Joyrider accidentally ejects from aerobatic aircraft Posted: 4 weeks ago by tigertony
As the plane rolled from one stomach-churning maneuver to another, the passenger was probably wishing that he was somewhere else.
Then, just like that, he was!

What a story! As scary as that was, as an apparent idiot as the passenger was I imagine he must look at this as the biggest excitement he'll ever have

« tigertony:Too bad his extra-vehicular excursion will probably get his buddy court marshaled. Read the article. The pilot is NOT being court marshalled. (Apparently he did go through proper briefing with the passenger, and the passenger probably didn't pay attention or was too terrified to remember)

I read three different articles on this story and got the impression from the others that the flight might not have been authorized. I overlooked the additional detail in this story.

In 1955, as my Air Force TOD was coming to an end, I was stationed at Tyndall AFB in Florida.
We were informed that if you wanted, you could get a ride in one the jet trainers they had then, a T-33.
Fortunately I was told by an old hand that this was a game. The pilots liked luring unsuspecting victims and then doing every maneuver they could think of to get you to throw up. That would make you the laugh of the week. Few guys didn't get sick.
I turned down the offer but I regret doing that now. Maybe I Could have been the 1 in 100 who didn't upchuck. In any case it would have been quite the experience.
Don't pass up opportunities too quickly. :(

My husband would jump at the chance. He wouldn't care if he did puke all over, he'd do it.
Though he has an iron stomach, and I imagine the pilots would have to try pretty hard to make him puke...would be funny to watch.
Me, on the other hand...I get motion sick when my train of thought picks up too much speed.

Maybe you could still have an opportunity, if you looked around.

But you're right. I'd really like to fly in one of the old P-51 Mustangs. One of the planes that changed WWII.
