...Because after all, there's nothing more critical to our nation's security than chastising pot smokers. Life itself is beside the point.

Jesus, this story made me angry! Yea, this guy with no arms and legs was a real danger to society. Good thing we got rid of him--the wheels to his wheelchair could very likely have been packed with hash ready for sale to other quadriplegics!

I hope some savvy lawyer keeps this one in mind in pursuing the legalization of marijuana nationwide for medicinal purposes.

I agree with he above ^ posters. I just don't think the pot had anything to do with his death. Poor man, though.

And meanwhile, Paris Hilton gets out because of a herpes flare-up and a hissy fit.

This is what is wrong with our justice system.

First the fact that he is quadriplegic has no bearing on the story. No one is above the law, certainly not just because they are in a wheelchair.

Yes, pot should be as legal as nicotine, caffiene, alcohol, etc, but again, that fact has no bearing on the case. Still the fact is, marijuana is illegal.

They also found cocaine and a gun in his car.

They offered parole, but was unable to grant it to him because the freaking idiot told the judge he would continue to break the law. All he had to do was shut the hell up and he would not have gone to jail.

Also this happened in 2004. What happened during the investigation? Where is the follow-up story to see all the details on what happened?

Second prisoners get fantastic medical care. As a matter of fact, the only Americans that are guaranteed medical care are prisoners.

What happened was a tragedy of course. I am simply saying that we are not hearing the entire story.

We do not know (from this story) what caused his death, what factors contributed to it, etc.

Here are some follow-up articles which do show that there are a lot of unanswered questions and that there are quite a few problems with the jail.
