My fiancee has more than 19 pair, also. She also hides purchases from me even though we don't combine income.
She makes them online at work, and has them delivered there. She then keeps them in her trunk until either I'm not home, or distracted, before she puts them up in the closet.
I still notice when she's wearing something new, at least 75% of the time.
I don't really mind, except my closet space, which already was less than a third, is getting smaller. I also know when she's been shopping by the lack of hangers on wash day.

I'm behind the curve. I have 2 pairs of running shoes. A pair of black leather mules, a pair of brown leather mary janes. A pair of dress flats. A pair of Tevas. One pair of hiking boots. And 4 pairs of crocs.
When I discover I have shoes that I'm not wearing, I get rid of them, unless they are task specific, like the hiking boots. Same for clothing--if I don't wear it regularly, it goes.

I just don't get it. I have 4 pairs. Sandals, black heels I only wear when I have to look dressy or professional, one pair of barn shoes, and the plain leather ones I wear for everything else.
I hate heels. I wore them enough at my old job to finally be able to walk in them without breaking my neck, and to drive my stick shift in them, but I haven't really put them back on since I quit the job.

I hate heels. I think my excuse, if you can call it that, is that I have seriously ugly feet. I haven't taken a poll, nor have I had actual feedback to that effect, but I find my feet to be very unattractive. That makes me want to dress them up like a naked barbie. Just costume them in things so they don't look so bad. This is a strictly personal thing as I don't have a S.O. and if I did, I wouldn't particularly care what he thought about my shoes, or me feet. I also wouldn't care if he bought every metallic cd ever (or whatever his particular hang up is, cause we all have them). So, vive la shoe fetish!

My goodness - I have a pair of pumps in nearly every colour, not to mention a bunch of flats, a couple of pairs of sneakers - plus 3 pairs hiking boots (no, I actually do need these) and one glorious pair of bright yellow rubber boots.
I have probably every kind of shoe except crocs - I refuse to give into that trend (it's way too frumpy for me).

I have about 6 pairs of shoes.
1) I cannot wear because after a while they began to dig into my heal
2) a pair of high heels I bought for prom and I just cannot think of an occasion to wear them
3) ugly sandles I got last minute because I needed something for work and they didn't have many shoes over a size 7
4) flip flops I bought for the beach, they are so stiff that they also hurt my feet
5) some nice ballet flats I wear nearly every day
6) some high top converse shoes I bought just because I couldn't find any sneakers that were not made of leather
I have 6 shoes... only 2 are practical to wear and do not hurt my feet. I would like to throw away the others but it is very difficult to find womens shoes in a size 10 that are not made with leather.
