The students look very thrilled at this, NOT. They look bored and dis-interested. I don't think the teacher did anything wrong, but I don't think she should be doing a routine in the classroom either. I wouldn't suspend her for what I saw. Some people just take things the wrong way.

I am just wondering why she did this? Was it part of an object lesson? No other info was given, just that she did this cheer--which btw, the cheerleaders for the school probably do similar routines--that some are concerned. About what? I love entertainment. I would have loved to be cheered on to learn! Maybe she was just reliving her glory days.

No to posting to cause trouble... just commenting on how this exemplifies that no one is safe from inadvertant trouble when any little thing you do could possibly be recorded, uploaded, seen, judged and then used against you.

So what did she do wrong? Was it because she was goofing off instead of teaching? Cheerleading is something that is encouraged at most schools, why is she in trouble for this. It's not like she started removing clothes... Which I wouldn't have had a problem with either, having seen the cheer video.

I don't see the problem with this. When I was in seventh grade we had a teacher who was a belly dancer. She had performed in front of the class before. No one had a problem with it and no one was outraged. It actually probably helped the attendance of the boys after that.

I didn't have cheerleaders at my high school.. all we had was the rich snobby girls :-(.. i feel like i missed a part of my high school experience

My guess as to why she did a cheerleading routine for her class is that she's been telling the kids how she use to be a cheerleader in high school or college and the kids have been bugging her to show them a routine. So maybe she promised that if the class does well on the next test, she'll show them. Since I don't know the whole story, I'm going to leave with: Teachers need to have somewhat of a relationship with their classes. The need to be trusted and liked (at least to a degree) by their students, or the students aren't going to bother doing well.
