Wilfred Owen Fought, and died, in world war one. This is one of his most famous poems. Whilst in a hospital being treated for shell shock, he met Siegfreid Sassoon, who really helped him to express his feelings in his poetry. His poems show the terrible cost of WW1, and I think, whatever your feelings about past, or current wars, there's no doubt that the men who fight in them deserve our respect. The imagery in this poem is so powerful. Evokes the horror that trench warfare must have been so disturbingly.
