Edited title and description from the light hearted one to a more serious one, reflecting the seriousness of the story

Yes, the original description was light-hearted and might have been morbid humor but it was 100% accurate. A bit of humor isn't that bad.

Now I didn't see the video (being on dial-up) but in the article there was a picture of the man brandishing a metal stool. This was a weapon. He posed a threat to others, the police, and possibly himself. This meant that force to bring him down was called for. Too much force? I don't know I wasn't there. I don't know how serious of a threat he seemed.

The fact that this immigrant didn't speak English has no bearing whatsoever. First as an immigrant I would assume he spoke some sort of english, or at least he should have. In any case it doesn't matter.

If I am wearing an uniform and have a gun/taser pointed at you and I say "Beligon namaka kamo trabes", you may have no idea what I said, but you do know that you should drop your weapon, and show that you are not a threat, raise your hands, drop to your knees, something.

I assume they have police where he is from and even police shows so he knew the drill.

He refused to do any of this because he was pissed and had lost his temper. He was a threat or at least appeared to be a threat in the microseconds the police had to act.

The video would clarify alot, 2many. On the tape he clearly quieted before he was tasered..not just once but twice..then while on the ground, according to the witness, one of the officers put a leg hold to his head and neck. It looks like excessive force to me, especially when the man had no weapon in his hands at the time and he was greatly outnumbered by responding officers.

Apparently it was really four times, and they also stuck a baton in him.

I hope they get them for both excessive force and lying, since the officer(s) story changed once they found out there was video of the incident.

Ah, thanks for clearing that up. You and dumbn00b clarified just how terrible it was. The cops were obviously in the wrong here. They did not act "to serve and protect" they were pissed off and acted out of aggression. They won't but they should face manslaughter charges

The scenario you all explained is completely different than the story and picture painted in my mind

He had been there TEN hours, his Mother who had come to meet him had gone home! Why didn't anybody help him? Why Taser somebody TWICE? Why does it take so many to overpower him? So many questions, no answers!

Unfortunately, it's almost always the bad stories that make the headlines..there's still far more good police than bad.
